The Light of London

London is over 1,000 square kilometers with almost eight million people between its walls. You can literally break London down borough by borough to make it easier to see everything in its glory. The real character will shine through this way. You will see beauty from the East End market traders on Roman Road, the oldest trade route in Britain, to the super chic and expensive fashions of Chelsea. Literally every street has its own story to tell. It’s quite magnificent. If you’re in London, you must visit Big Ben. You won’t be able to go inside, but you’ll be able to hear the bells toll and see the tower to its best advantage just across Westminster Bridge on the South Bank. After that you can take a ride on the London Eye nearby and see the newly refurbished Royal Festival Hall, have a drink under Waterloo Bridge at the British Film Institute, then trot down the Jubilee Walk beside the Thames to the Tate Modern. You will see beautiful views and lovely art.

From the Tate, you will be able to cross the Millennium Bridge to St. Paul’s Cathedral, and test out the acoustics of the famous Whispering Galley. It is really amazing! Try going to the British Museum. It has free entry. You will get to explore the Rosetta Stone and the Parthenon Marbles, and round off your tourist circuit with a lovely visit to Buckingham Palace (this is for August and September only). You will also get to see the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Palace nearby. If you like trinkets and antiques, be sure to go check out Portobello Road. They have such cool things to see and buy there. For fried banana or Gothic lovers, Camden Market is your go-to place. Foodies should definitely not miss Borough Market; there is such yummy food to choose from. If you’d like to take in all the main sights, try taking Big Bus Tours where you can go around the city on a double-decker, and hop on and off whenever you please. For more adventure, try the London Duck Tours. For those adventure types, there is a lovely outdoor skating rink which comes only in winter time, but it is just magnificent. There is so much fun to be had in London. Go explore any day.
